SRCC official meeting notes 3/3/2009

1. elections -: this year's potluck election meeting was packed with great dishes and desserts prepared by the SRCC members/neighbors. given that there was only one person running for each office, the vote was by acclamation rather than count.

ELECTION RESULTS:

president - sarah campbell

vice president - marc davis

treasurer - bob drew

co-secretaries - dawn cizmar and garret nick

2. oak wilt revisited -: not so long ago the neighborhood pooled its resources to fund a trenching project to fight an oak wilt infection threatening to spread throughout travis heights and possibly further. unfortunately there was one breech in the defenses and more trenching is needed. the new trench will be much smaller and will save money by going through willing property owners' yards but only if acted upon quickly. the total cost of the project will be $44,400 with $22,000 of that potentially covered by grants and other funding sources. some of the grants require SRCC to be the applicant. anyone interested in volunteering or donating can visit www.saveaustinoaks.org for more information.

MOTION: to donate leftover funds from a completed speed hump project in travis heights to the save austin oaks ACF account. total funds equal roughly $2,000 = PASSED

MOTION: for SRCC to apply for urban forest grant program to help cover cost of the project = PASSED

3. it's my park day -: interested in picking up trash, removing invasive species and planting trees in stacey park and blunn creek preserve? join us saturday, march 7th, at big stacey pool at 9am. stragglers are welcome.

4. norwood house update - : this historic home is now ready for some tlc and all volunteers or donations are appreciated. send donations to the austin parks foundation or see how you can help at www.restorenorwood.org - the building needs some ideas on how it can be useful to the general public as a park resource.
